HP Pair
When installed on supported HP laptops, Poly Lens Desktop provides a unique pairing experience for end users that simplifies the pairing process and provides them with more confidence when pairing and using their HP Bluetooth devices.
Centralized Manageability
By signing into Poly Lens Desktop, users can connect their devices to the Poly Lens cloud. This provides end users the ability to define settings for their devices consistently and monitor their usage over time. IT Administrators can drive consistency through their organization using Poly Lens Policy.
Cloud Policy Behaviors
Polling Intervals
When Poly Lens Desktop is connected to a Poly Lens cloud Account, the Poly Lens Desktop will check with the cloud on a rolling 4-hour interval (starting from the device boot) for updates to the policy applied by the administrator against the application and the associated devices which are connected. This includes device settings, device software, as well as looking for updates to the Poly Lens Desktop application across all policy levels.
Upgrade Behavior
Administrators can deploy Software Update Cloud Policy for the connected devices and the Poly Lens Desktop App with a software version of their choice using one of the following options. All Poly Lens Desktop Application users need to be signed in to their tenant account for the policies to take effect.
-
User Controlled - Gives the signed-in users the flexibility to execute the update at their convenience.
-
User Deferred Update (Max 3 times) - Enforces the update after the signed-in users delay the update 3 times.
-
Silent/Immediate Update - Automatically downloads and installs the updates in real-time without requiring manual intervention as long as pre-requisites are met.
Guest users that are not managed via cloud policies can update their devices or the Poly Lens Desktop App to the latest version when available. Once a guest user updates their Poly Lens Desktop Application to the latest version, they will not be able to downgrade the Application to a version chosen by the administrator via a policy, when they sign-in. However, devices can be downgraded via policy once signed in.
Connecting Poly Lens Desktop to Poly Lens Cloud
Poly Lens Desktop supports multiple workflows for onboarding an instance of Poly Lens Desktop to be managed by a Poly Lens cloud Account. The following options are available for onboarding to provide flexibility in deployment needs.
Email Invitation - From Poly Lens cloud, Account administrators can send an invite to users by specifying the email used to sign into Poly Lens Desktop. End users can accept the invitation directly in the Poly Lens Desktop app or by accepting the invitation in their email. For more information see Device Users | Poly Lens Help.
Microsoft Entra ID Domain Claim - By integrating your Poly Lens cloud Account to Microsoft Entra ID, you can claim your Microsoft domain. When End users sign into Poly Lens Desktop with an Account in this domain, they will automatically be associated with your Account. For more information see Microsoft Entra ID.
Client Tokens - If you maintain administrative control over a fleet of computers, HP recommends you leverage Client Tokens as a part of your application bulk deployment workflow. This will automatically sign in your users and claim the users and their connected peripherals to your account. This workflow provides the most control over your environment without requiring your users to take any action on their PCs.
For more information and customization options for bulk deployment see Lens Desktop - Loginless.
